Our Weakness

Family. Family is a word in a dictionary which many of us know but only few could know its true meaning and significance in our lives. The dictionary says family is a social unit consisting of one or more adults together with the children they care for. For some, a family is united by blood and those who are composed of a mother, father and siblings. But for me, one can be called a family not only because they have the same blood or they are composed of a mother, father and siblings. A family can be called a family simply if they love and care for each other. The composition and the blood that runs in the family is not regarded because it is not what matters most in a family. A family only regards the unconditional love the members of the family have for each other.
At this point in our lives, we may already know the importance of our family. Who would just love us when our friends or boyfriend/girlfriend just turned our backs to us ? Our family. All the people we may know can leave us but our family can’t. Instead, they comfort us and help us carry the lift in our shoulders. Advices and recommendations is what they give to help us in every problem. With that, we don’t have to feel alone because we have people caring for us- our one and only family. What our family treats us is what we will also be when we grow up. Our family will be a great influence and inspiration in our life as we mature and build our own family. By the experiences we have right now, we can use them as lessons and guides for us to make our own ideal family.
An ideal family may not be a perfect family for one to have. We could not wish for a perfect one- that’s too much. But at least, in an ideal family, you have loving and caring members of the family. Members that are always there to guide and support. One factor that binds up a family is love. If one wanted to have an ideal family forever, one shall let love reign than pride. Forgive even though it’s not your fault- it finishes the problem. Never let pride reign- it destroys an ideal family built by love.
Admit it, everyone’s weakness is their family. We could not stand our family being at risk. That’s just how they were so important to us. We could not return all the love our family has given us. But by doing our own little ways, they could be proud of us. When they see we are trying to build a good future, a way leading to an ideal family, our family becomes happy for us. For they know we will never go the wrong path and instead follow the words our family has given us. That’s just what they want- us to have a good life for our self. Besides, we do not know until when we can be with our family. Therefore, in every second in our life that we spend with them, let us let them feel the warmth of love and everlasting peace.

Who works for our family in times of need ? Who takes care of us whenever mother is not around ? Who defends the family against problems ? No one else but our father, or what we call daddy, ‘erpats’, ‘ama’, ‘pudra’, ‘papa’ or ‘itay’.  My father is the most influential person in my life and probably not even aware of the things he has taught me or of how much he has affected my existence. This person has always been in my life, from the day I first opened my eyes up to now. That’s why words aren’t enough to thank him for all what he has done for me.

My father ? I can say that he is an extraordinary person. Simply because he works for our family not only outside the house but also inside. He cooks, cleans and do the laundry. A special appreciation I can do is to help him. My father is usually a type of humorous person. His favourite food is pancit. That’s why in every celebration we have at home, he cooks pancit. His super hero idol is Thor in Avengers because he finds Thor funny and entertaining. He loves watching boxing and even dreamt of being a boxer when he was a teen.

My father had been a good father for us and a good husband for my mother. Whenever I need help for my projects, who do I depend on ? It’s my father. There are times my mother won’t allow me for something, like hanging out, but it is my father who makes a way. When I need some advices ? My father is there for me. I know all the things I can do for him is only little compared to what he did for me these past fourteen years. So I just do my best to impress him and make him proud in a way I can.

My father may not be as rich as Bill Gates, as intelligent as Albert Einstein or as handsome as Daniel Padilla but he left a great foot print in my heart. A foot print that stays forever and never left my heart. My father gave me the greatest gift anyone could give another person, he believed in me. A man who cares, love and cherish me for who I am, a father who I look up to. I will always love my father forever and always.

My sophomore life passed by so easily in just one blink I am now a junior student in Cavite National Science High School. To be in third year level in this school is not that easy. My expectations ? They occupied my mind in the near opening of classes. I’ve been hearing a lot about being a junior student from my senior servicemates. Listening to conversations when it comes to experiences in being a junior is what I do. Who doesn’t want to learn from them anyway ?
I was excited knowing that Ma’am Orsal would be teaching us in Analytical Geometry but it was a different teacher who showed up. But it’s okay because the new Analytical Geometry teacher, Ma’am Louwella Malimban, was as kind as her. She mingles to us students which makes us very lucky to have her as an adviser. I expect that our teacher, which is teaching in Araling Panlipunan, is strict. Yes it was correct based from what I am seeing these days. But if you complied with what she is saying, you can get well with her.  Our teacher in math, Ma’am Julieta Arceo is a fun teacher. And I met my expectations on her. My servicemates also talked much about our teacher in english. She was strict yet a fun and funny teacher according to what they are saying. Yes it was true. During our English class, we are having fun. She is sharing inspirational stories to us which we find interesting. I expected that Ma’am Maricar Ligsa was nice that you could easily get along with her and based from the meetings we had, it was true. Yes, some teachers may look fearful and strict but if you met them, you will know what they truly are.
The thought of us staying in Maliksi building is exciting. To think of the windy and beautiful scenery you will have each time you stay in the corridor really excites me. When I reached the building, I met my expectations. To view the school was enjoying same with the cool breeze of the wind passing by. New friends came and by hanging with them, I learned many things. At first, to adjust in this new environment I have is hard. But as time goes by, things seemed to be usual to me. Not at all times people would adjust for me but I should also be the one adjusting.
So far, my junior life is fun. Difficult yes, but with the help of others plus God, we can overcome this. A new stage in life, that is. But to think this new stage is difficult, challenges me. I will spend the rest of my year enjoying this. Soon, getting used to this life is what I expected anyway. Take this as a little footstep to the things we are to take in life. Soon this will all be over that’s why our only option is to enjoy this new step and become strong- not only for others but also for ourselves.
